We hear that word a lot around Christmas. It was a name given to Jesus that means God with us! The name Immanuel was virtually an announcement that God’s gift on that first Christmas was His presence. And what a gift it is to have the presence of the Creator, Sustainer & Provider here with us! The gift of presence is far greater than the presence of any gift. The presence of God reveals our needs, reminds us we are loved, and provides us with His saving grace. It encourages us and removes our sense of worthlessness and fear of rejection. We can’t save a soul like Jesus came to do, but we can all give the gift of presence this Christmas. So many times, we strive for the best gift, the choicest words, or the most fantastic meal to serve someone. In reality, the best gift is when you give the gift of your time, your acceptance, and your presence. With this gift, others will know they are not alone, not forgotten, and not without value. If you can’t offer physical presence, reach out with a message and let someone know what they mean to you. Jesus did, and He still does! He is Immanuel.
