Ashley Tapp - Open

Hello, my name is Ashley!

Although I was born and raised in Kentucky, I've been in South Carolina for so long that I consider it home. What I enjoy most about South Carolina is their outdoor parks. Being in nature is such a life enhancement.

However, I understand that when life gets tough or "be lifing" the last thing you want to hear is someone's critical judgements, be told to "get over it" or worse, you feel completely invalidated when you are simply trying to express yourself. I've been there, and it's no fun. Therefore, I believe in utilizing an integrative counseling approach by utilizing techniques from cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), holistic therapy, and psychoanalytic theories.

I also utilize play therapy, art therapy, and parent-child interaction therapy. while working with young children and adolescents. Sometimes, the use of other therapeutic modalities can be used as a means to better understand what children may not be able to articulate or make sense of. Therefore, I like to take on a more creative approach when interacting with children.

Although I identify as a Christian, I view everyone's wellness journey as being specific and unique to one's personal experience. Thus, I believe in meeting you where you are and moving forward from there. I am not here to judge you or to change you. I am here to help and support you as you heal and navigate through the challenges that you are facing.

I am open to helping you regardless of your age, race, gender, and/or how you choose to identify yourself.

With that being said, I have worked with a wide range of clients who have dealt with the following: Relationship problems, Divorce, Premarital, Infidelity, Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Dysfunctional communication, Low-self esteem, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Grief, Trauma. Ages 2 years - 60+

As for my educational background, I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's of science degree in psychology from Coker College, located in Hartsville, SC.

I am currently earning my clinical mental health counseling degree through Liberty University.
