Daily Gifts from God

If you are like me, you know some facts about God: He is loving, He meets all our needs, He is all-powerful, and He never leaves us. I believe these things, but sometimes in the business of life, I forget and do not let that knowledge sink into my heart or think about what it all means to my personal life.  God has allowed me to see Him in a very real way these last few weeks, and I have learned that God doesn’t just love everyone. He loves each one of us individually. He is a personal God who loves me more than I can imagine and is with me every day, all the time, working in all situations. God started revealing this to me one morning through my daughter. This morning, I was rushing around, as is typical, trying to make sure we got out the door on time, so my daughter was not late for school. As I am in her room, looking for something, she says, “Mommy, look!” I say back to her from her room, “What?” and she says, “No, you have to come to look!”. That morning, I thankfully came to see what she wanted me to see. It was the most beautiful sunrise I have seen in a long time, and it even had purple (my favorite color)!  As I continued to think about that sunrise, I realized that God put it there just for me, maybe when someone else saw it, from where they were, they would have seen red, pink, or orange, but I saw purple because that morning, God knew I needed to slow down and be reminded that he loves Me! It was like He painted a picture and said, “Here you go, this is for you, enjoy!” Since that morning, I have noticed these little things. I think of them as hugs or smiles from God, little blessings or gifts He gives me to remind me of His presence and that He not only meets all my needs, He blesses and gives us things just because He wants to. Some of the things I have noticed since I have been looking are sunrises/sunsets, butterflies, pretty blue skies with fluffy white clouds, a song by my favorite Christian artist while I was donating blood, breakfast with my daughter before school, a dinner date with my husband, cookies someone brought to work, a cute dog, a little girl waving at me, prayer time with some sisters in Christ, a walk with a friend and a nice cool breeze when it was getting hot, a left turn arrow to turn left across a busy road, and enjoyable training. These are just the things I noticed; each one was a reminder of God’s love and presence in my life every day.

I challenge you: take the time to notice God around you. He knows you and loves you personally. He does not only meet our needs and take care of big things in our lives. He is in all things every day, and He wants to bless our lives, but you have to be looking for it, or you may miss it! “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”(James 1:17)
