The year 2020 can be defined by the phrase “Social Distancing”. Keep six feet apart, no social gatherings and stay at home the experts say. During this trying time, I am reminded of Mark 5:21-42. This passage tells of a child’s death and an unclean woman. One translation describes the woman as, “A woman with the issue of blood.” She lived “social distancing” for 12 years. She lived isolated, unclean, rejected, probably alone and unloved. Her issue caused her to be untouchable. God has created us for relationship. Human touch is vital for mental and emotional health. Long before COVID-19 there were many issues that have made us feel untouchable, unloved and rejected. What is your issue… depression, anxiety, abuse? What has caused you to feel unclean, rejected or unloved? The woman in scripture was healed because of the belief, “if I could just touch the hem of His (Jesus) clothes I will be made well”. Her belief in one touch from Jesus healed her issue.   Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) and heal the broken hearted (Luke 4:18). Reach out and touch Jesus. He can heal any issue that leaves us feeling isolated and unloved. Will you let Jesus get close enough to touch your issue and bring healing to your brokenness?
