Remembering

What we remember and how we remember it impacts what we feel and affects how we live. We just celebrated Easter and you may have remembered an aspect of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection that has hopefully impacted you. Jesus told us to remember Him. It can change us! Remembering is important. Remembering some things are necessary but some memories can haunt us and prevent us from the joy and freedom that is meant for us. We need to remember enough of our failures to avoid repeating them but not so much that we are defeated by them. We need to remember our successes enough to be encouraged, but not so much as to be prideful or complacent about our next mission in life! When you need help releasing and processing your memories, counseling can be a good tool. A gratitude journal can help you remember the blessings and victories that are easy to forget. Sometimes we forget what we need to remember and are spending too much time focused on what it is time to forget. Lord, help us remember well, not just for Easter, but everyday!
