Renew Your Mind

God’s Word is clear about what our minds should focus on. When anxious thoughts assail us, we should replace those thoughts with others. Find a favorite bible verse and use that to replace anxious thoughts. Talk to God about everything in your life that is good. Praise God for who He is. Listen to some favorite music. Read a book. Go for a walk and be mindful of what God has created for us to enjoy.
In Philippians 4:8-9 (NLT), Paul said, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you have learned and received from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
This verse gives us instructions about what to do when we are anxious. First, think about all the good things. Second, practice this. Set aside time daily to practice thinking about all the good things that are going on. Third, “the God of peace will be with you.” As we renew our minds (Romans 12:2), we start to view the world and our lives through God’s view. Thinking good thoughts does not come naturally; this takes practice and intentionality. What good thoughts will you practice today?
