Soar With God

When you are at the ocean, a breeze normally blows steadily. Sometimes you might be aware of it, and other times not. Often you will see someone flying a kite. They hold tight to the kite's string, which may stay in one place, gently moving with the breeze. If the grip is loosened or there is a big gust of wind, the kite may flip and flop; sometimes, it may even come crashing to the ground! It struck me recently that we are like the kite. The string is like our trust in God. When we are focused on Him and living each day for His glory, trusting that He is holding us steady in the air, we can move with the rhythm of life, flowing in and out of unanticipated situations, knowing that God is in control. We may forget that God is in control of the string. We may try to manage the ups and downs of life, get distracted by the unknown, allow anxious thoughts to overtake us, and let depression snatch our joy. This could cause us to come crashing to the ground. Remember, God doesn’t leave us. He is there to pick us up, and the Holy Spirit will lift us to soar again. Enjoy your flight!
