A Time for Everything

I have been reading the book of Ecclesiastes lately, whose author is presumed to be King Solomon, one of the wisest men ever to walk this earth. This book talks about following the path of wisdom, and Solomon ponders the concept of time. In chapter 3, he talks about the different seasons in life.
There is a time when we are born and a time when our lives will end, a time to plant seeds and a time to uproot, a time to build and a time to tear down, a time to laugh and a time to weep, a time to mourn and also a time to dance, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to work and a time to rest.
What season do you find yourself in? Reading Ecclesiastes reminded me just how short and precious life is, and it motivated me to use my time wisely and to ask God how I can best use this precious gift of time for his glory. What is God’s challenge to you today when it comes to the use of your time? Is it time to be more productive and purpose-driven or a time to make your health a priority and rest or engage in some energizing exercise? Is it time to speak up about a situation or time to listen well with the goal of understanding? Is there anyone whose success you can help celebrate, or do you have a friend who just needs you to sit with them and hug them while they cry and grieve? How can you use this precious gift of life and time wisely today?
