WE WANT TO LIVE LONG AND BE HEALTHY

In all my years as a counselor, I have never considered that statement to be unusual or even impossible. We are living in days that truly challenge that longing.
For months we have been struggling with Covid 19 threats. Should I stay at home and not go anywhere or see anyone? Some have had to make that choice because of compromised health issues making them more vulnerable. Some have made that choice because of fear and anxiety based on the uncertainty of the daily news. Some have lost their lives as it is a very serious virus. What if I am a carrier of the virus and don’t even know I might be infecting someone else? Now we have an even greater threat with all the violence happening in the cities. Living long and healthy is more uncertain than ever.
So how do I stay committed to living healthy and long? Countless studies are coming out revealing that the basics of life in 8 to 9 hours of sleep, daily exercise, and healthy eating cannot be compromised. They are the basics of life. But more studies are revealing that in addition we can reduce the adrenal response to stress and anxiety by living with hope, peace and joy.
At the Bridge of Hope Counseling Center our trained staff is committed to helping you during these difficult days by increasing healthy coping skills and deepening your joy by knowing that God is absolutely in control of the events of your lives. You can even laugh and be “certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His good work until it is finally finished…” Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
