This year my focus has been on our freedom in Christ. The concept of what it means to live free in Christ is a beautiful thing. Life is hard and filled difficult circumstances. We can't always choose what life gives us, however, in Christ we have the gift of choice on how to respond. We can choose to surrender our pain to Christ and stay close to His loving arms. “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery“ Galatians 5:1. Freedom is defined as “exemption or liberation from the control of some other person or some arbitrary power.” Believers in Christ have been set free from the bondage of sin and death and are free to live life to the fullest. Freedom brings with it the power to choose. Scripture says in Deuteronomy 30:19”...today I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life...” Freedom is a beautiful gift that has been given to us. Steve Brown in his book, “A Scandalous Freedom” says, “the similarity between real freedom and the freedom experienced by many Christians is the difference between a taxidermist and the veterinarian; while you get your dog back, one collects dust while the other jumps, slobbers, and barks.” Walk in His freedom today. Choose to stay close to Him when life hurts and you can experience the joy of the Lord.
