Temporary or Permanent?

My wife keeps reminding the rest of us, “this is just temporary!” I appreciate those reminders. In life, knowing the difference between what is temporary and what is permanent makes the difference between pushing through in confidence or giving up in fear. When you begin to feel like the temporary trials are permanent, you lose hope and are stuck in negative thoughts and as a result, negative emotions. When you believe the present is your assigned lot forever, you live in fear of how you will get through a long-term future, for which God has not equipped you. He gives strength for today, not for tomorrow until you get there.
On the other hand, if you misunderstand the permanent and believe it is temporary you may lose valuable perspective and courage to push through the immediate. God has given some promises that are permanent. Jesus said He would be with us until the end of the world. God says this world is not our home and we are just passing through to an eternal home free of trials, disease, or dysfunction! The brokenness we carry and live around is temporary. HIs grace and love is eternal. When you feel overwhelmed with today, remember some of God’s promises for tomorrow! We will get through this and it is only temporary!
